On October 10th, 2024, Native Ways Federation is joining people and organizations from all over the country for the first-ever DAF Day: a new kind of giving day that reframes how donor advised funds are used and who uses them. We are pleased to be featured on their list of participating organizations, along with our founders, the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) and the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES).
Donor Advised Funds, also known as DAFs, are making a big impact in giving to nonprofits, but few know they exist or how they work. We are joining the inaugural DAF Day to make sure that Native nonprofits are a part of the conversation, that Native nonprofits know how to tap into this giving opportunity, and that DAF donors know that they can give to Native nonprofits.
We hope you’ll join us in learning more about DAFs and how to support Native-led organizations in this inaugural year of DAF Day. Here are some resources to get started:
- Learn more about DAFs.
- Check out our list of Native-led nonprofits that are eligible to receive tax deductable, charitable donations in the U.S.
- Learn more about DAF Day and how your Native nonprofit can join DAF Day and their list of participating nonprofits.
- Also, if you haven’t already, be sure to add a note on any of your organization’s donation materials and websites that DAF donors can mail checks to ___ (input your information).
About Native Ways Federation:
NWF was founded in 2008 by a group of national Native-led nonprofits to activate and expand informed giving to Native-led nonprofits in Indian Country through donor education and advocacy. We envision a thriving Native-led nonprofit sector, championing a diverse community rooted in Indigenous values and ways of being. Our active founders are the Association on American Indian Affairs, American Indian College Fund, American Indian Science and Engineering Society, First Nations Development Institute, National Indian Child Welfare Association, and Native American Rights Fund. We strengthen the circle of giving by uniting the Native nonprofit sector, advocating for Native nonprofits, and influencing philanthropy.
