Indigenous Milk Medicine Collective (IMMC) envisions a world where access to the tradition and knowledge of Milk medicine and first food practices transforms communities. Our mission is to support the brilliance of Indigenous communities in celebrating their Milk Medicine journeys and to strengthen their self-determination.
These practices are integral to health, identity, and tradition. Our work centers Indigenous-led solutions and knowledge to advocate for resources and equity through education, community engagement, and culturally responsive care for Indigenous populations.
Since 2021, we have hosted Indigenous Milk Medicine Week (IMMW) each August to celebrate first foods’ vital role in community wellness and encourage critical discussions about our practices and challenges.
In 2024, we successfully hosted the inaugural accredited Indigenous Milk Medicine Conference with approximately 650 participants, over half of whom were Indigenous, and two-thirds identified as part of the BIPOC community.
